Moving...

After 4 months of living in Ojai, Ca (one of the most awesome places in the US, if I may say so myself) my husband and I decided it would be best for us to move in with my parents. We were doing fine financially, but we just weren't happy. We were living in paradise and hardly got to enjoy it as a family because my husband was working his tush off to pay for all our expenses.

We don't exactly live a frugal lifestyle. We eat mostly raw, all organic vegan food. We try to only buy organic clothing. We try to make choices that are friendly to the environment and animals and that is REALLY expensive in Ojai. So this really is the best choice for our family!

Eventually we are going to move into a camper that we are in the process of purchasing from my mother-in-law. We'll be able to travel around the US, unschooling our daughter on the road. This would have been impossible if we stayed here in Ojai.

Still, I am pretty disappointed. If you love the outdoors, Ojai is the place to live. There are so many beautiful places to hike and the weather is always gorgeous (albeit hot during the summer). The people are so genuinely friendly, and there are 2 places with organic vegan options.

Ojai, we will be back. The last four months here have been blissful and amazing. Time for the next chapter in our adventure...beautiful San Diego!

I did it.

After having dreads for a few years I did it. I cut them off yesterday because my husband, daughter and I are moving in with  my parents. My parents don't necessarily have a problem with dreadlocks (not their favorite hair style but they are very accepting people), but they definitely do not live in the most dreadlock friendly area.

Let me be clear. I had a few inches of hair left after I killed my dreads...but I REALLY wanted to buzz my head. So I just did it.

The verdict?

I LOVE IT. My husband on the other hand passionately hates it. The only thing he hates more is the fact that I get so many compliments for my newly shorn hair. I won't lie, it does really bother me that he doesn't like it or think that it looks good. BUT damn, I really love it.

Here's a picture from just before I cut them off:

The baby loves it because she can pull my hair all she wants now!! WOOHOOOO!!

Off to find some new buzzed head etsy accessories!!

Blessings.
